Professional Development

We are called to continue to grow, professionally and personally. Boundary training is a requirement for all authorized ministers in the United Church of Christ. Associations also require Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as a form of professional accountability. These range from involvement in the wider Church, to independent study and workshops or classes.

Annual Information Review

All Authorized Ministers in the Southern California Nevada Conference must complete an annual Information Review in order to maintain their Ministerial Standing.  Information Reviews provide a means of sharing information about the life and ministry of a church and minister.  In January each year, Information Reviews are sent via email to clergy and made available online. Information Reviews must be completed by February 28 each year.  The 2024 Information Review is available now.

Continuing Education

Clergy with Active Ministerial Standing in the Southern California Nevada Conference must complete and report their continuing education each year.

  • Clergy with Standing in Eastern, Central, and Northern Associations must complete at least 12 hours per year. The hours/types of Continuing Education are reported on the Clergy Annual Information Review (sent out digitally in January and due in February each year)
  • Clergy with Standing in Southern Association must complete at least 15 hours per year, in three categories.

Boundary Awareness Training

Clergy with Active Ministerial Standing in the Southern California Nevada Conference must complete Boundary Awareness Training every 5 years in order to maintain standing.  Boundary Awareness Training opportunities are listed here.
