ENLA (Emergency Network Los Angeles) in collaboration with California VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) are the primary partner of the United Church of Christ for local disaster response management. Next week, they will run a resource hub where they anticipate serving an estimated 25,000 clients. The HUB will have childcare, counseling, immediate material and financial resources, food, massage, music, therapy dogs, and comfy spaces for people to relax while getting services. If your local church would like to sponsor a table for this event, with the capacity to provide large-scale donations (such as monetary support in the form of gift cards, or specific supplies requested by the VOAD), please contact Rachael Pryor to coordinate details.
Translators are urgently needed; click here for more details and to sign up for a shift.
If you would like to be part of the spiritual care resources, or you are a licensed mental health care provider, please email Sandri Kramer of Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services, at skramer@didihirsch.org. She will coordinate specialties and schedules around your availability. The Hub is also looking for volunteer musicians to help create a soothing atmosphere in both outdoor and indoor spaces. Email Adriana Rabkin at adriana@marinvoad.org with your availability.
UCC Wildfire Aid Appeal: these gifts are coordinated through our national setting and will be utilized to support long-term disaster recovery in the Conference and in impacted communities throughout the disaster area, in consultation with the UCC’s disaster ministries office and other partners. 100% of this offering comes back to the community since national staff who support this work are already paid for by our OWCM giving.
SCNC Wildfires Aid Fund is overseen by the SCNC Board of Directors and can be utilized for emergency relief now as well as long-term recovery efforts.
Altadena Community Church can also receive direct donations via Zelle to altadenaucc@gmail.com or by check addressed to P.O. Box 8327, La Crescenta, CA 91225.
