The United Church of Christ Board at Work

Cleveland Airport Marriott was a busy place as first the United Church of Christ Council of Conference Ministers (CCM) and then the united Church of Christ Board (UCCB) met there in early March.

This, the fourth meeting of the biennium for the UCCB, was the last meeting before gathering at General Synod #32 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in June. The various committees of the Board such as Audit, Marketing, Governance and more, met and gave reports that will also be shared during Synod. According to the Disposition Committee, approximately 20 resolutions will be presented to the general synod delegates for consideration.

The GS Planning and Programing Committee shared several exciting plans for the event such as keynote speaker Pulitzer winning author Dr. Matthew Desmond, a street festival, a fundraising concert by Trinity UCC Choir from Chicago, along with special recognition of retirees James Moos, Associate General Minister and Don Hart, United Church Funds. During this 3-day meeting the UCCB welcomed its four newest board members: Rachel Chapman from the Southern California Nevada Conference, Gloria-Ann Muraki of the Hawaii Conference, Marsha Williams of the New York Conference and Harriett Ward of New Hampshire.

“Shine!” is the theme of the 32nd General Synod, which will take place in Milwaukee, Wis., from June 21-25, 2019.
