UCC Leader Speaks in Irvine

Rev. Traci Blackmon, Executive Minister for Justice & Witness Ministries in the United Church of Christ, will be the featured speaker at Irvine United Congregational Church on Saturday, March 30, at 10:30 am and 2:00 pm.

Rev. Blackmon is also the Senior Pastor of Christ the King UCC in Florissant, Missouri, and received national and international recognition for her leadership after the killing of Michael Brown in nearby Ferguson, Missouri, on August 9, 2014.  She is a co-author of the United Church of Christ’s curriculum on White Privilege.

Rev. Blackmon has also joined with Rev. Dr. William Barber of Moral Mondays, Sister Simone Campbell of Nuns on the Bus, and others in a new Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for a Moral Revival.

Lunch will be available between Rev. Blackmon’s two addresses, and we have tentative confirmation for Rev. James Lawson as our luncheon speaker.  Rev. Lawson was a colleague of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and continues to teach and speak on nonviolence.

The public is invited to this inspiring and challenging event.  Registration can be made at www.iucc.org/register.
