RHF 58th Anniversary Worship Service

During the week of February 19th, Retirement Housing Foundation (RHF) will be celebrating its 58th Anniversary, “RHF – Serving People For a Better Life”.

On Thursday, February 21, members and friends of the Southern California Nevada Conference of the UCC are invited to a 7:30 pm worship service at the Community Congregational UCC (4111 Katella Avenue, Los Alamitos) to hear Rev.Dr. Misi Tagaloa and to celebrate the RHF ministry.

Dr. Tagaloa is the senior pastor of the Second Samoan Congregational Church of Long Beach and serves on RHF’s National Board of Directors.

The Second Samoan Congregational Christian Church was founded in the mid 1970s by immigrants who settled in the Long Beach area and has evolved to be a member of the United Samoan Ministry of the United Church of Christ in 2013. Its mission is to respond to the needs of the Pacific Islander community and the Samoan community in particular.

Rev. Tagaloa has been a Director on RHF’s National Board for two years and serves on committees that oversee Independent and Internal Audit, Corporate Compliance, Strategic Planning, Nominating, Resident Benevolence and Employee Compensation.

Retirement Housing Foundation (RHF), is a 501(c)(3),non-profit, faith-based, mission-driven, charitable organization and a recognized ministry of the UCC.  RHF was formed in 1961 by three visionaries; two California United Church of Christ clergymen and one layman.

At the beginning, RHF’s mission was to provide dignified, affordable housing and services for the elderly.  Today, RHF is one of the nation’s largest non-profit sponsors and managers of housing and services for older adults, persons with disabilities, and low-income families. RHF means home to more than 22,500 people in 197 housing communities in 29 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  While these communities are comprised of mostly apartments, RHF also provides housing with assisted living units and skilled nursing beds.
