Chanukah is the Jewish festival that celebrates freedom of religion and freedom from tyranny. It is also called the Festival of Lights as we light eight candles on candelabra called a menorah.  Join a group of interfaith clergy and people of faith as they gather in Adelanto, across from the private immigrant detention facility owned and run by GEO, to shine the light on conditions there.

A recent report detailed a slew of abuses, including nooses hanging from detainees’ cells, medical neglect and unjust segregation.  We will also shine the light on the humanity of those detained, many of whom are people from Central America seeking asylum and a better life.

It will probably be cold, so dress accordingly.  Bring your flashlights or cell phones for use when dark and for ceremony.
