Pilgrim Pines Summer Camp Thanks

By Tracy Halter-Balin

The theme of this past Summer Camp at Pilgrim Pines was “Beyond Belief…The Universe of God. ”  Each morning  we were asked “What If….” questions by our Pastors-at-Camp:

What if we belong to God?

What if God is bigger?

What if hope is real?

What if there is more than enough?

What if we speak up?

What if we change the world?

What if we go beyond?

Such heartfelt and amazing conversations were had by the over 500 campers and volunteers that shared time together during July.  Watching campers as young as 6 years old and as old as 75 create their Vespers services around these questions was beyond inspiring!  Each person has a story and many were shared freely, often with tears and with joy.

Spending a month at camp is many things: fun, joyous, amazing and exhausting to name a few.   Sharing the love of camp songs and traditions with these new generations is so important.  Seeing campers become counselors and directors brings hope that Pilgrim Pines will continue to thrive.

A big thank you for your donations, prayers and good thoughts for a successful summer.  Our campers and volunteers enjoyed nature, fellowship, challenges, joy and acceptance.   Thanks to local church and Conference camperships, 124 campers who could not afford the total expense of camp were able to join us.  A total of $30,000 was shared with these families!  Yes, camp is costly but is also priceless.

A huge thank you to our amazing Pastors-At-Camp Susie Bjork, Megan Owens, Chrissy Siva, Erin Beardemphl, Matthew Redrich, Iona Dickinson, Sarah Fisk Phillips, Jason Sisk-Provencio and Rod Echols!   Camp couldn’t happen without volunteers and we hope you’ll consider joining us next Summer!
And the fun is not over!
