On Sunday, May 19, 4:00PM, First Congregational UCC, San Bernardino’s Music for a Sunday Afternoon! will offer a program of vocal and harpsichord music by Georg Frideric Handel, featuring soprano Jennifer Bern-Vogel and harpsichordist Jerry Ripley.   The vocal works will include arias from the opera Giulio Cesare, and the oratorios Judas Maccabeus, Joshua, and Esther, along with works for solo harpsichord.

Families are encouraged to attend.  There will be hands-on things (coloring pages, word search, etc. that will relate to Handel and his music) for children who may be at the concert.  Think of it as “Getting a handle on Handel” or “Hands on with Handel.”  Mr. Ripley built the harpsichord that will be played in this program.  All will be encouraged to take a close look at it, learn how it works, and to see in detail all of the decoration.

Jennifer Bern-Vogel is the cantor of Congregation Emanu El, Redlands.  Jerry Ripley is the Director of Music Ministries of FCUCC San Bernardino and Organist/Choir Director of Congregation Emanu El, Redlands.

Admission to the concert is free.  However, donations will be graciously received.  A reception will follow the concert, hosted by FCUCC’s Fellowship Ministry.
