About the Event

During the week of February 17th, Retirement Housing Foundation (RHF) will be celebrating its 59th Anniversary, “RHF – Committed to Building Brighter Tomorrows”.

On Thursday, February 20, members and friends of the Southern California Nevada Conference of the UCC are invited to a 7:30 pm worship service at the Community Congregational UCC (4111 Katella Avenue, Los Alamitos) to hear Rev. Libby Tigner and to celebrate the RHF ministry.

A graduate of Claremont School of Theology, Rev. Tigner served as the Pastor of Los Altos UCC from 2015 - 2019, an assistant minister and then Minister of Education and Parish Life at First Congregational Church in Long Beach from 1996 – 2012.

Since 2012 she has also been an Associate Conference Minister for the Southern California Nevada Conference of the United Church of Christ.  She served on the UCC’s Executive Committee from 2004 to 2009, and again from 2011 to 2013 as the Moderator of General Synod.  Her passions in ministry revolve around life-long faith formation and being in community.

Retirement Housing Foundation (RHF), is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, faith-based, mission-driven, charitable organization and a recognized ministry of the UCC.  RHF was formed in 1961 by three visionaries: two California United Church of Christ clergymen and one layman.

At the beginning, RHF’s mission was to provide dignified, affordable housing and services for the elderly.  Today, RHF is one of the nation’s largest non-profit sponsors and managers of housing and services for older adults, persons with disabilities, and low-income families. RHF means home to more than 22,500 people in 197 housing communities in 29 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  While these communities are comprised of mostly apartments, RHF also provides housing with assisted living units and skilled nursing beds.
