Founders Day at Chapman University

Theme: Bible, Gender and Sexuality

Founders Day is an annual event sponsored by the Office of Church Relations, connecting students, faculty and community members with an outstanding scholar in the area of religion and a renewal and reunion event for Disciples of Christ and United Church of Christ people though all are invited.

The Founders Day Scholar is Dr. Amy-Jill Levine, Vanderbilt University Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies, who is an international renowned scholar and teacher. She will offer two lectures.

The preacher is the Rev. Dr. LaTaunya Bynum, Chapman Class of ’76, who is the Regional Minister for the Northern California Nevada Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Mrs. Donna Ford Attallah ’61 has generously supported Chapman Disciples and United Church of Christ students as well as endowing the Chair of Director of Church Relations. Donna will be honored at the luncheon.

This March 10 one day event includes: two lectures with Dr. Levine, a luncheon honoring Donna Ford Attallah ’61, a worship service with preacher the Rev. Dr. Bynum ’76 which will feature Disciples on Campus students and the University Singers, and a young Disciples on Campus alumni party. An offering will be collected for Disciples on Campus scholarships as well.
