Summary

The Organist/Pianist is employed by the Hillcrest Church Council, and reports to and is supervised by the Senior Pastor. Under the direction of the Senior Pastor, in coordination with the Music Director, the Organist/Pianist provides music for weekly and special worship services.

This is a part time, exempt, fee-for-services position. Required hours of work are for preparation and performing for Sunday worship services (which start at 10:30 am) through conclusion, choir practice on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am, and other special worship services that involve organ or piano music. Salary range is $7,000 – $7,300 annually, depending upon experience.

Duties

The Organist/Pianist responsible for:

* Working directly with the Music Director and Pastor to plan and provide music for the weekly service of worship, including: prelude, postlude, accompaniment of hymns, accompaniment of the choir(s), offertory music, special music, etc.

* Working with the Music Director, Wedding Coordinator and Pastor to provide music for wedding services (at additional compensation)

* Working with the Music Director and Pastor to provide music for memorial services (at additional compensation)

* Working with the Music Director and Pastor to provide music for special services

* Coordinating with Koinonia #2 to notify them of any tuning, repair or maintenance needed for the church organ and piano

Qualifications

* Education and experience in both accompaniment and solo music on the organ and the piano

* Must be able to play both traditional hymns and contemporary music

* Must be able to adequately learn and play music on three days’ notice

* Prior education and experience participating in regular, memorial and wedding worship services

* Emotional maturity and professional behavior

* Ability to work independently and to accept direction and supervision from the Music Director and Pastor

* Clear Criminal Background Check
