HR for Churches – Do You Need an IIPP Manual?

By Debbie Hallmark

HRQATo begin with, we need to answer the question, what is an IIPP manual?  The Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) is a basic written workplace safety program.  Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations (T8CCR) section 3203, requires every employer to develop and implement an effective IIPP, even churches.  It discusses who is responsible for the safety program, what to do in case of an injury, training records, accident inspections, OSHA records, and more.

Churches need to have a basic one if they have less than 20 employees and no injuries.  But if you have 20 or more employees, a more detailed program is required.  In addition, most worker compensation companies ask if you have one.

Please feel free to call me to discuss or if you have questions.
