Tom Skinner,  a U.S. Army vet who left La Mesa, CA by bicycle on March 10. arrived at the National PTSD Center in White River Junction, VT on June 27 (PTSD Awareness Day), successfully completing his journey to call attention to the plight of PTSD sufferers (see earlier Connecting Voices article at http://www.scncucc.org/voices/2012/03/ucc-conference-church-life/ptsd-awareness-adventure-2012-across-the-us-by-bike/).  Sponsored by the Welcome Home Ministries of the United Church of Christ of La Mesa, CA , Tom’s journey provide him with many opportunities to share his presentation, “What Comes After Welcome Home,” and to tell his story to the people he encountered along the way, using his experiences to help other veterans understand and recognize the signs, symptoms and effects of PTSD, and then to help them find the resources they need to cope with its effects and live happy productive lives.
