2011 Annual Gathering Report from the Financial Development Team
by the Rev. Scott Landis, Chair of the Southern California Nevada Conference Financial Development Team
The Financial Development Team has been meeting regularly to implement ways for member churches to participate actively in the covenant (that involves a financial commitment) to our Conference. Our main goal is to help close the gap between income and expense as reflected in our Conference operating budget. The goal this past year was to raise fifty thousand dollars in order to meet all our obligations. While we did not reach that goal, the Financial Development Team believes we have set some things in motion that will eventually ensure long term financial stability for our Conference. Accomplishments this past year include:
1. Our first Luau attended by many throughout our Conference and sponsored through the generous gifts and leadership of the Samoan Roundtable.
2. Distribution of Our Church’s Wider Mission (OCWM) Certificates and visits by Conference leadership to encourage increased giving and more churches making commitments to OCWM.
3. Working with the Church Vitality team on development issues.
4. Encourage all Conference churches to participate in systemic giving of OCWM by filling out a Covenant Form.
5. Covenant Form Celebration – at this year’s Annual Gathering for participating churches.
6. Making on-the-spot donations easier by providing a pledge card for directed giving at the Annual Gathering.
7. Hosting a table at this year’s Annual Gathering to interpret the work of the Finance Team.
8. Begin meeting in regional centered gatherings to encourage individual’s gifts to the Conference.
We are grateful for each gift given to the ongoing ministry and mission of our Conference. Please visit our table at the Annual Gathering this year and talk to members of the Financial Development Team to learn how you can become involved.
Respectfully submitted,
Scott Landis
Chair
