Mimi Blais, known internationally as “The New Queen of Ragtime” returns to Southern California for a special one night only, once-in-a-lifetime, not-to-be-missed benefit Concert in Memory of Jeff Stone, former DJ of The Ragtime Show on Sunday Evenings on KSBR Radio (88.5) for 11 years. Jeff recently passed away after a long struggle with illness, and his widow Karen Stone is sponsoring this concert in Jeff’s memory.
For Mimi, classically trained at the Quebec City Conservatory of Music and McGill University in Montreal, ragtime music became a way to discover her many talents as an entertainer, story-teller, communicator, actress and composer.  She is equally at home with classical, ragtime, folk, jazz, modern, blues, and tango as well.  Whatever style of music she chooses to play, she receives unanimous praise from the public and the media in Canada, the United States and Europe.  Mimi just re-visited Hungary for the 8th time in March, 2011.  In 2006, she was invited to play at the famous Sziget Festivel in Budapest and a week after she played at the Oslo, Norway Jazz festival as a special guest with the Ophelia Ragtime orchestra.  Mimi has recorded many excellent CDs, several of which will be available at the concert.
Proceeds from this benefit concert in Jeff Stone’s memory will benefit the justice and outreach work of Neighborhood Church’s JOY Ministry (Justice, Outreach and You), which helps those in need locally, nationally and internationally.   Free parking is available in the church parking lot (corner of Cleo & Glenneyre, one block east of Coast Highway).  Visit www.ncclaguna.org for more information.
