Historia De Café Teatro Las Ventanas

by Rev. Cesar Gramajo

Petra Malleis-Sternerg.

Se nombraron ciertos cargos:

Erick Burgos Coordinador Gral.
Patty Recinos Coordinadora de Evento
Ricardo Munoz – Proyectos
Dr. Cesar E. Gramajo – Director

Hicimos el grand opening en el EASTERN. El dia de Resureccion. Abril 3/2010

English Translation:

One afternoon of the month of March, 2010, united in the Fellowship Hall with a brother, leader of the church (Ricardo Muñoz), were thinking if there was a way of using more effectively the fellowship hall and the old chapel “Small Chapel Windows”.  The chapel was not being used.

Bother Richard commented that in his country of Chile, there were a couple of times that they had an event called Café Concierto, where they had cultural activities.

At that moment, the idea of starting CAFÉ TEATRO came to mind, with clear objectives:

1. To reach the lost by means of cultural activities and evangelism.
2. Be a recreational instrument and be a healthy way of fun for Christian families of Southern California.  We don’t have recreational centers in Moreno Valley of this kind.
3. Be a platform to show for artistically talents and abilities of the Christian community in general.

We were going to have space for expression of music, dance, paintings, singing, poetry, videos, etc., but also a place to have coffee, visit and make new friends…this would be Saturdays from 7:30 pm to 11 pm.

The fellowship hall or Salon Las Naciones, has been decided to be used, after the cultural event, people will come into the fellowship hall to have coffee and goodies in a musical setting of piano playing.  The piano has been donated to the church.

In the monthly leadership meeting we mentioned the vision to the team and all were in favor, they liked the idea and we started working and equipping the small chapel.  We decided to keep the name of LAS VENTANAS, to conserve the historic name of the small chapel.

There is no fee for the moment, it has been created as a service to the community and not created as an event for profit.  As a suggestion of Rev. Petra Malleis-Sternberg, we might request a donation in the future.

We did the grand opening at the Eastern Association meeting on April 3, 2010.

We have had two events (April 3 and May 5) the fellowship hall was full on both dates.  Christian artists have participated from other denominations in the area who have been invited.

The newspaper from the area called La Prensa Hispana had an article in their May issue.  Newspaper journalist Olga Rojas came to take note and photos of the place.  We have received several phone calls requesting information regarding CAFÉ TEATRO, they are happy to hear about our initiative that resolves a problems in the area of lack of healthy recreational places.

We saw the starting of the 2010 South Africa World Cup here and we hope to see the finals.  Each member of the church is urged to bring guests.

Our next event is scheduled for July 3, 2010 to celebrate Independence Day.

Today our leadership team is ready and has decided to have an event every two months, due to the logistics needed to get it done.  We hope to have one a month in the future.

The important objective is that CAFÉ TEATRO “Las Ventanas” be an evangelical tool to take the people to Christ to be incorporated to Fiesta Critiana UCC, a new church for the family.
