February 11 & 12, 2012

Mission & Money
In our current economy, church finances are extremely challenging: budget shortfalls, investment losses, lost rental income and more have forced us to make difficult choices that threaten the mission of our congregations. At this event, we will discuss how to support our mission through fund-raising and effective stewardship. We have gathered a panel of experts that will provide insight into fund-raising and share information to help manage and secure the investments that support the mission of your congregation.

Thinking Theologically About Wealth, Including Money

Abstract:

Carol Johnston notes in this essay that " 'money' and wealth are notoriously difficult topics for most North American Christians to think about theologically." For this reason, she seeks answers to several critical questions on the topic. What is "wealth"? What does wealth have to do with that which Jesus called an "abundant life"? What do we need for an abundant life, and what does that have to do with money?

Center for Faith and Giving

The Center for Faith and Giving of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) was launched in late 2011. It’s good in many ways, but I highlight here the books which are not only listed, but are reviewed.
