Friends:
We received word yesterday that Joe Evans died in
Sarasota early yesterday morning. Joe served for
many years as the Secretary of the UCC and, for two
years following Bob Moss' death, was the President of
the UCC. He was 92 years old. He and
Harriett had been married 63 years. Joe had been
in failing health in recent months, but we celebrate the
fact that he was able to attend the 50th anniversary
General Synod. Harriett is being well supported by
her church in Sarasota and by her daughter and
son-in-law who live nearby. There will be a small
family service soon, followed by a memorial service
later this spring. I will certainly let you know
the details for that. Ben Guess will have a story
on the web in the next day or so. Please keep
Harriett in your prayers.
